This is a gorgeous little bottle made from milkglass and a black amber. A white glass thread was trailed around the black glass body and then the bottle was blown into a 14 rib mold and then twisted, given the bottle this wonderful design. The bottle exterior was then smoothed, for even though it appears to have pronounced ribs, the outside of the bottle is smooth to the touch. It's a real optical illusion. White glass was applied to the mouth and it sits on a white glass foot. A splendidly clever little piece of work and probably made in Staffordshire around 1760.
