Here is a nice lantern with an interesting story. The green cut to clear globe is cut on two sides, one with the town of Quincy and the other side with Tiger No. 2, both inside wreaths.
Tiger No. 2 was a fire engine that the town of Quincy, MA purchased from the Hunneman Brothers in Boston, MA in 1844. The cut overlay globe is almost certainly made by the New England Glass Company for they made large quantities of both lanterns and cut overlay glass. In 1882 the town of Quincy sold their Tiger No. 2 fire engine to the country of Cuba, where it was lost at sea in transit to Cuba. Excellent condition, 16 inches tall overall.
