A Venetian calcedonio (chalcedony) lobed and footed bowl made in Venice in the 17th or early 18th century. This is another remarkable survivor, considering the two appled handles with pinched quilling applied to them. Calcedonio bowls of this type are very uncommon. Some the bowls are plain and some have molded ribbing but this is the only one I have seen that is lobed, a techinque you can easily find on other early Italian glass bowls that are not in calcedonio. The height is 6.98 (2.75 inches) centimeters and the diameter across the top not including the handles is about 11.43 centimeters (4.5 inches). Undamaged. A similar bowl, but without being lobed can be seen in Corning Museum here - https://glasscollection.cmog.org/objects/11068/bowl?ctx=fd87f04a72ade2f6f0d94ff31f907ab882a5b02c&idx=54 A rare opportunity to acquire a top piece of calcedonio.
