An outstanding covered pokal having King Frederick William I of Prussia and his wife, Queen Sophia Dorothea of Hanover engraved. Surrounding them are 14 monograms, one for each of their fourteen children, one of which was Frederick II The Great. There are documented Potsdam pokals with King William I engraved as well as examples with Queen Dorothea but I can not find any recorded examples with them both, side by side, and surrounded with the monograms of all their fourteen children. I feel this is truly an important glass. The glass has mild crizzling which is common for Potsdam glass of this time period and is only really apparent when the piece is in full sun. Some of the gold has been worn away on the finial of the cover, otherwise the glass and goblet itself is undamaged. About 30.5 centimeters (12 inches) tall overall. See the book on the Ernesto Wolfe collection by Bridget Klesse and Hans Mayr plate 134 for a similar glass with Queen Dorothea and here is a similar glass with King William I in Corning Museum - https://glasscollection.cmog.org/objects/7745/goblet?ctx=9c88e06a986e66ec16c57435e552860ed13c1626&idx=14
