This is a very rare type of facon de Venise candlestick, having gold ruby threads contained within three seperate knops in the stem. It has the typical facon de Venise style foot for the late 17th century. Gold ruby threads were often used in goblet stems of this time period, mainly attributed to Bohemia and Germany. This is the only candlestick of this type I have encountered having the use of the ruby threads. The candlestick is undamaged and as made, but there is an internal fracture within the central knop of the stem. Height: 20.32 cm (8 inches).
