This is a very unusual bottle for it was made in the very same mold as the label under glass cologne and hair oil bottles I have listed that are base embossed W.N. Walton Pat. September 23, 1862. No glass label was used on this bottle and the recessed area where the glass label would go have been engraved with the letter F. In addition the entire bottom has been cut in order to remove the Walton embossing. What this tells me is that the glassworks that was contracted to make the Walton bottles, decided to use his mold for some of their own bottles so as to not infringe on Mr. Walton's patent, no glass label was used and his name was removed from the base of the bottle. Prossibly a one of a kind piece done by a worker as a gift for a wife or mother for I have never seen another. Height 8.75". Excellent condition.
